Police catch carnappers in Batong Malake

PNP LOS BAÑOS—Two suspects were caught on January 25 for attempted carnapping in Batong Malake. The two culprits, identified as Angelito Mamino, 33, and Saturnino Pamplona, 44, tried to steal the Honda XRM motorcycle of 17 year-old Anthony Gala, who was inside his house when the incident happened.

Investigations revealed that at around 8:30 am, Barangay Public Safety Officers (BPSO) of Batong Malake spotted Mamino destroying the ignition of the victim’s Honda XRM-125. The BPSO confronted him, but the suspect pulled out his firearm and threatened them with it.  Mamino then ran to his accomplice, who was aboard a jeepney. They then headed to Sta. Rita Subdivision, Brgy. San Antonio. The PNP responded immediately caught the two and confiscated a small transparent plastic sachet containing what was suspected to be dried marijuana leaves.

The suspects were charged with Violation of Republic Act 6539, or the Anti-Carnapping Law, and RA 9165 (Usurpation of Authority).
