LOS, BANOS, LAGUNA – On March 2, UPLB Gender Center welcomed International Women’s Month with a seminar on Anti-sexual harassment. In coordination with the Office of the Chancellor (OC) and the Office of Anti-Sexual Harassment (OASH), the Gender Center tackled old and budding gender-related issues in a workplace.

Anti-sexual harassment seminars are usually held for National Service Training Program (NSTP) students but this year, OC felt the need to include the University’s frontliners as audience to ensure the employees’ and faculty’s safe working environment.

The speaker, Ms. Genesis Giselle T. Baseleres, started off with light topics and gradually introduced more sensitive issues. The first part of the seminar focused on defining common terms and addressing misconceptions about topics correlated to gender sensitivity.

The second half of the seminar discussed sexual violence, violence against women, and sexual harassments in UPLB. Baseleres then gave legal bases for protection from respondents or those who have been charged with sexual assault. She also presented other services OASH can provide for the complainants/victims like counselling, security, and support measures.

Two more seminars on Anti-Sexual Harassment will be held on the next two Mondays, March 9 and 16 at the Graduate School Multi-Purpose Hall.
