Led by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), various organizations and Local Government Units from Laguna marched this morning from SM City Calamba to The Plaza to start off their month-long fire prevention campaign.

The BFP’s theme this year is “Ligtas na Pilipinas ang ating Hangad, Pag-iingat sa sunog ay sa sarili’y ipatupad.”

Organizations and Local Government Units from Laguna gathered in front of SM City Calamba as early as five in the morning. After the Unity Walk, a Zumba session was held entitled “Sayaw Laban sa Sunog 2018.

According to Fire Officer 1 Eliseo R. Gayadan, this event showcases the unity of BFP with active organizations, government agencies, volunteers, and various fire brigades. This is also held to develop BFP’s networks and linkages with other organizations. He added that the event intends to reminds these organizations of the new theme and other future events that will be conducted by BFP in the coming weeks.

FO Gadayan also emphasized that prevention is much better than suppression because there are no damages to deal with. “Mag uumpisa pa rin sa sarili mo ang prevention,” (Prevention starts with yourself) he said in reference to this year’s fire prevention theme.

BFP will conduct various activities throughout the month of March such as: Blowing of Horns, Berong Bumbero sa Paaralan, Open House, and Fire Olympics.
