Barangay Anos launched its “Suntok Lamok!: Anti-Dengue and Anti-Zika Drive” last August 27within the school premises of B.N. Calara Elementary School and Los Banos National High School – Annex. This is part of the efforts for Dengue Awareness.
This project was launched with the help of Mannalon Trading, a pest control company headed by Mr. Paolo Arejola. Brgy. Anos was able to use the new method called Residual Spray Method, which aims to eliminate pests which did not come into contact with the solution during the time of application, as well as those pests that will migrate to the area.
The Residual Spray Method is done by applying the crystalline and microscopic forms of the solution (Fendona Alphacypermethrin 5%) on the surface which will remain attached unless water drenching, wiping off, or other ways of physical removal are done. While the solution is still on the surface, any pests that will come into contact with it will die.
Before this Pest Control project, Barangay Anos also had a “Kalinisan para Iwas Dengue” Clean-up drive last August 6-13, 2016. Besides pest-elimination, this project is also part of the Barangay’s Anti-drugs Campaign to encourage the youth to engage in sports instead of doing drugs. This clean-up drive was done on the streets, playground, and courts of the Barangay.
Brgy. Anos’ chairman, Hon. Celerino Balasoto Jr., said, “Gusto ko sa isang project, maraming purpose at maraming na-aaccomplish. Parang kape, 3-In-1. (In every project that we organize, I make sure that it will serve many purposes. 3-in-1, just like an instant coffee).”
