Several applicants from different parts of CALABARZON attended the Local Recruitment Activity (LRA) conducted by the Barangay Employment Service Office (BESO) of Barangay Maahas in Los Baños, Laguna last January 30 in their barangay covered court.
According to BESO Maahas Officer and BESO Laguna Federation President Jhayr Mundin, BESO Maahas is the only extension office of the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) that provides job opportunities for the residents of the barangay and their nearby communities.
The activity was headed by Ferdinand Punzalan Vargas and in partnership with 20 companies including Canon and some recruitment agencies, such as GDE Integrated HR Management Solutions, Inc., PIPOLS Synergy, Career Power Professional Management Services, Inc. and Powerlink.
According to Mundin, they do direct hiring only of applicants that comply with the following qualifications and requirements: biodata or resume, at least high school graduate, Grade 10 completer, or Alternative Learning System (ALS) passers. The applicants were screened through a one-day process with a written test and an interview.
Free medical services, free shuttle service, free uniform, and a meal allowance await successful applicants.
“Maraming pumupunta dito galing sa iba’t ibang lugar katulad ng Quezon. Sila ang pina-prioritize namin dahil galing pa sila sa malayo na ibig sabihin gusto talaga nilang magkatrabaho,” said Mundin.
The LRA is being held monthly, starting from 2013. Since January this year, more 100 applicants have been hired.
Aside from the LRA, Brgy. Maahas also conducts a continuous program for call center training every month, implements an ALS program that offers out-of-school youth the opportunity to complete their basic education, and maintains a partnership with the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation for scholarship grants of students of the barangay.
BESO Maahas posts their updates regarding the activity in the Facebook group of LBG – Los Baños Group Incorporated.
