One hundred fifteen high school students received P1,500 each last July 10 as their yearly allowance from the Los Baños Municipal Scholarship Program (MSP).
The scholars, together with their parents attended the program organized to release the scholars’ allowance at the Los Baños Municipal Hall.
Los Baños mayor Caesar Perez reminded the scholars to study hard and to spend their allowance from the scholarship program wisely. “Pag-isipan niyong maigi kung saan niyo gagastusin ang allowance na iyan.”
“Malaki rin po ang naitutulong ng scholarship program sa mga estudyanteng kagaya namin,” said Janine Dela Cruz, one of the scholars studying at Los Baños National High School.
According to Kristine Mora, officer-in-charge on the scholarship program, they will still have to resolve some conflicts with the accounts related to the scholarship funds and beneficiaries during the former administration. She said they will be able to form new plans for the scholarship program by the time they have settled some issues with the turnover of records and work assignments.
The MSP is in accordance to the Municipal Ordinance 7160 which states that all government units should establish scholarship fund for poor and deserving students.
Municipal Ordinance No. 2012-1128 states that selected high school students will each receive P1,500 annually to be given during the opening of classes.
