In line with the Sangguniang Kabataan elections this coming October 28, the Commission on Elections (ComElec) of Los Baňos is currently conducting registration for qualified voters for the said elections at the open grounds of the new Municipal Hall.

The said registration started last July 22 and will end on July 31.The COMELEC office is open from 8 o’clock in the morning until 5 in the afternoon.

To be qualified as voters for the upcoming SK elections, one should be 15-17 years old and a resident of his or her barangay for at least six months.

Joyce Ann Raquel, 15, of Barangay Tadlac is happy about being able to vote for the first time. “Masaya po ako na rehistrado na ako dahil makikibahagi na po ako sa pag-unlad ng mga kabataan,” she said. (I am happy that I am already registered because I will now be able to participate in the development of the youth.)

Meanwhile, filing of certificates of candidacy will be on October 16 and 17 according to Elvis Atienza, COMELEC Officer from Brgy. Lalakay. The campaign period will start on October 18 and end October 27. (Earl Gio N. Manuel)
