Bagong hepe ng LB PNP, hinirang

Si Police Chief Inspector Ricardo I. Dalmacia ay opisyal na nanungkulan bilang hepe ng Los Baños Philippine National Police (PNP) noong ika-16 ng Hunyo.

Nangunguna sa mga proyekto ni Chief Insp. Dalmacia ang pag-deputize sa mga civic group

upang maging katuwang ng PNP sa pagpapanatili ng kaayusan at seguridad sa Los Baños at pagpapababa ng insidente ng krimen lalo na ang paggamit at/o pagbebenta ng ipinagbabawal na gamot.

Ayon kay PO2 Marife Cruz, ang kasalukuyang proporsyon ng pulis sa sibilyan sa Los Baños ay 1:2,432. Ibig sabihin, ang bawat isang pulis ay responsable para sa kaligtasan ng 2,432 residente ng Los Baños. Hindi pa kasama sa bilang na ito ang humigit kumulang 10,000 estudyanteng nag-aaral sa Unibersidad ng Pilipinas Los Baños. Ang nararapat na ratio ng pulis sa sibilyan ay 1:500 upang epektibong masiguro ang kaligtasan ng mga mamamayan.

Nais ni Chief Insp. Dalmacia na makipagtulungan sa mga civic organization sa Los Baños tulad ng Kabalikat Civicom. Hindi na bago ang pagtulong ng mga civic organizations sa Los Baños PNP. Katuwang na ng PNP ang mga samahang ito sa tuwing may malakihang proyekto o okasyon sa Los Baños tulad ng taunang Bañamos Festival. Sa ilalim ng panunungkulan ni Chief Insp. Dalmacia, layon na maging regular ang pagtutulungan ng LB PNP at ng mga civic organizations upang  higit na mapalawak at mapa-igting ang pagbabantay sa kaayusan at pagpapanatili ng seguridad sa Los Baños.

Ang pagpapababa ng insidente ng krimen lalo na ang paggamit at/o pagbebenta ng ipinagbabawal na gamot ay isa din sa pangunahing proyekto ni Chief Insp. Dalmacia. Mula nang maupo sa pwesto, narito ang ilan sa mga nagawa na ng bagong hepe ng Los Baños:

  • Nasamsam ang anim na hindi rehistradong motorsiklo. Ang mga motorsiklo ay nailipat na sa ilalim ng panlalawigang tanggapan ng PNP;
  • Sa bisa ng search warrant, isa ang naaresto sa kasong illegal possesion of firearms. Ang suspek ay nahulihan ng .45 na kalibre ng baril  noong June 29. Ang suspect ay nakapagpyansa;
  • Tatlong suspek ang naaresto dahil sa paglabag sa RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002). Nilabag ng mga suspek ang Section 5 (pagbebenta), Section 11 (paggamit), at Section 12 (paraphernalia). Sila ay nahulihan ng shabu at marijuana sa pamamagitan ng buy-and-bust operation at pagpapatrol;
  • Naaresto ang dalawa sa mga Most Wanted Persons ng Los Baños;
  • Naaresto ang lima sa mga Wanted Persons ng Los Baños;
  • Naaresto ang walong katao dahil sa paglabag sa batas patungkol sa illegal gambling (RA 9287); at
  • Naaresto ang dalawang katao sa kaso ng swindling.

Pagtutuunan din ng pansin ni Chief Insp. Dalmacia ang pagbuo ng ordinansa na mag-oorganisa ng Los Baños Motorcycle Security and Identification System (LMSIS). Layon ng LMSIS na magkaroon ng mas maayos na database ng rehistro ng mga motorsiklong pagmamay-ari ng mga residente ng Los Baños. Sa ganitong paraan, mas mapapabilis ang pagkilala sa mga kolorum na motorsiklo na karaniwang nasasangkot sa iba’t-ibang klase ng krimen.

Nais ding maisaayos ng PNP sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni Chief Insp. Dalmacia ang listahan ng mga authorized bet collector at kubrador bilang bahagi ng kampanya ng PNP laban sa illegal gambling.


MHO, nagsagawa ng blood donation drive

Higit 100 pinta (pint) ng dugo ang nalikom ng Municipal Health Office (MHO) sa isinagawang Dugong Bayani Alay ko sa Bayan noong ika-21 ng Hunyo sa bagong munisipyo ng Los Baños.

Ayon kay Dr. Alvin Isidoro, tagapamahala ng MHO, mahigit 200 na residente ng Los Baños ang nagparehistro upang magbigay ng dugo ngunit nasa 108 lamang ang pumasa sa mga panuntunan para makapagbigay ng dugo. Karamihan sa nakibahagi ay mga nagsasanay sa Philippine National Police at mga miyembro ng iba’t-ibang samahan sa Los Baños.

Katulong ng MHO ang Philippine Blood Center, Alpha Phi Omega (Inc.) Philippines at Zeta Theta Alumni Association sa ginawang blood donation drive noong Hunyo 21. Naging malaki rin ang bahagi ng Los Baños Group, Kabalikat Civicom, JCI Los Baños, at Tanod Bayan Kontra Krimen (TaBaKK) sa naturang gawain. (Larawan mula sa Municipal Health Office).

Ipinaliwanag ni Dr. Isidoro na ang  blood donation drive ay isinasagawa tatlong beses sa isang taon. Ang nangyaring blood donation drive ay ang pangalawa sa taong ito. Ang pangatlo at huli ay isasagawa sa ikalawang linggo ng Oktubre. Ani Dr. Isidoro, sa buwan ng Hunyo ginanap ang pangalawang blood donation drive bilang bahagi ng selebrasyon ng World Blood Donor Day noong ika-14 ng Hunyo.

Mayondon chess wiz brings home 2 gold medals from Macau

Michael Concio Jr. of Brgy. Mayondon took home the gold medal and bested 38 ASEAN participants in the Open 10 Rapid Chess category during the 15th ASEAN + Age Group Championships from June 2-12 at the Sands Cotai Central in Macau. The Philippine team composed of Concio, Adrain de Luna, and Daniel Quizon also won the gold in the Group Rapid Chess in the Open 10 category. Nutrition Month celebration kicks off

On June 30, the local government of Los Baños launched the activities for the 40th Nutrition Month celebration themed Kalamidad ay Paghandaan, Gutom at Malnutrisyon Agapan during the flag ceremony held at the new Municipal Hall grounds.

Dr. Maria D. Cerezo, the nutrition officer of Los Baños, stressed the importance of increased awareness and higher level of preparedness among Los Baños residents to prevent hunger and worsening of malnutrition cases during calamities.

Dr. Cerezo enjoined all community stakeholders, especially the local government units, non-government organizations, and funding agencies, to put greater premium on nutrition when planning and preparing for calamities and disasters.

The nutrition officer also shared that this year’s nutrition month theme was an entry from Los Baños. Dr. Cerezo explained that the theme entry submitted by Desiree P. Reyes, a dietician at HealthServ, bested about 400 other entries from different parts of the country. Ms. Reyes was recognized during the launching ceremonies.

Dr. Cerezo invited everyone especially the schools and various institutions to take part in activities to be held this July:

  • July  (2nd Week).  Food Production and Home and Community Garden Contest in all Los Baños barangays
  • July 17. Presentation of the Los Baños nutrition situation during the sessions of the federation of barangay captains
  • July 28. Nutrition Corner Contest in all barangays of Los Baños
  • July 29. Nutrition Jingle Contest at the Municipal Covered Court, Level 1 Department of Education (Elementary); Level 2 Daycare Children Center and Rural Improvement Club Children Center
  • July 30. Lecture on nutrition emergencies for affected families in lakeshore barangays at the Los Baños Nutrition Office Culminating activities for the Nutrition Month 2014 at the Municipal Covered Court

June Bullet News [LB PNP Report]

Kabalikat Civicom, a Los Baños based civic organization, will represent Los Baños in the Provincial Disaster Preparedness Competition on July 16 at the Laguna Sports Complex in Sta. Cruz, Laguna. The competition is part of the activities lined up by the PNP Provincial Office for the 2014 National Disaster Consciousness Month.

The Los Baños PNP conducted a feeding activity at Brgy. Bayog Daycare Center on June 30. Around 25 daycare students benefitted from the feeding activity as part of the Los Baños PNP Police Community Relations (PCR) activities.

On June 2-6 and June 16-20, the Los Baños PNP assisted Los Baños private and public schools in ensuring order and security in school zones as part of the Balik Eskwela project. The Los Baños PNP also held earthquake and fire drills at the Los Baños Central Elementary School in Brgy. Timugan during the opening of classes to prepare and/or review students, teachers, and school administrators on what to do during emergency situations.

PESO holds a series of job fairs

Approximately 700 applicants and 70 companies participated in the quarterly job fair on June 27 held at the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) located at the Gabaldon Compound near the Immaculate Concepcion Parish in Brgy. Baybayin in Los Baños, Laguna.

PESO will be holding another job fair on July 25 (Friday). Applicants are advised to bring their resume. The registration for the job fair will start at 8am.

Further, PESO will also facilitate hiring for the following:

  • VAC Auto Components (HS Graduates) production operators on July 11;
  • Verde (domestic helpers) on July 15;
  • JEDEGAL in Taiwan (factory workers) on July 16; and
  • Every Friday – skilled workers (laborers, carpenters, mason, steel fabricators, etc.)
